Vital Steps Haiti

WELCOME TO VITAL STEPS HAITI

It is heartbreaking, but Every day, countless families wake up without reliable access to clean drinking water, sufficient food, safe shelter, or even a sense of security. These are the most essentials every human being deserves long before they can dream, grow, or reach their full potential. When those fundamental needs go unmet, everything else becomes a battle:
• Children can’t focus in school when they’re hungry.
• Parents can’t plan for the future when they don’t know where their next meal will come from.
• Communities can’t thrive when clean water is a privilege and safe housing is out of reach.
This is where Vital Steps Haiti steps in. VSH is grounded in a simple belief: no human being should be deprived of the basic necessities that make life possible.
Our mission begins at the foundation — meeting the primary needs that allow people to stand, to breathe, and to hope again.

Mission & Vision Statement

Our mission is to empower Haiti’s most vulnerable communities by providing essential resources, educational opportunities, and sustainable support systems that help individuals and families build brighter, more stable futures.

Our vision is to help shape a future where Haiti’s youth are educated, families are supported, and entire communities are equipped to achieve lasting change and self-sufficiency. We envision a Haiti where the barriers that limit growth—such as hunger, lack of access to education, and economic instability—are steadily replaced by opportunity, dignity, and long-term resilience.

Our Story

Vital Steps Haiti was born from a journey of pain, purpose, faith, and a deep calling to serve. For our founder, Roody, the desire to help others began long before Vital Steps Haiti existed. After losing close family members due to a lack of medical resources—losses that could have been prevented with proper care—Roody made a promise to himself: to dedicate his life to being a source of support for people who don’t have access to the help they deserve. This promise led him into nursing, where he spent years caring for others, easing suffering, and becoming a steady hand for those in need. Nursing shaped his heart for service even more, but it also opened his eyes to a bigger truth: To create lasting impact, he needed to reach people not just one patient at a time—but entire communities at once. With this realization, Roody stepped into the world of business, becoming a first-generation business owner. Entrepreneurship created new opportunities, widened his reach, and strengthened his ability to provide resources and support where it was needed most. But even then, he knew God was preparing him for something greater. Together, Roody and his wife Rosie felt a calling placed on their hearts—a spiritual nudge that they could not ignore. God had opened their eyes to the struggles facing countless families in Haiti: children lacking educational support… neighborhoods without proper nutrition… families facing hardships that mirror the pain Roody once lived through. They realized their purpose wasn’t just to succeed for themselves, but to be a bridge—a connection between resources and the people who desperately need them. And so, Vital Steps Haiti was created. This organization represents their commitment to give back to the land that shaped them. It is the expression of their faith, their gratitude, and their determination to help struggling Haitian communities take vital steps toward stability, education, nourishment, and long-lasting hope. Rooted in compassion, built on lived experience, and driven by a calling greater than themselves, Roody and Rosie are dedicated to pouring their knowledge, resources, and hearts into Haiti—one child, one family, and one community at a time. Vital Steps Haiti isn’t just a charity. It’s a mission. A promise. A bridge of love, faith, and opportunity. And this is only the beginning.

Roody and Rosie first met in Haiti as teenagers — Rosie on a mission trip, and Roody volunteering as a translator for the team. Even then, their hearts were drawn to compassion
and service. What started as a simple connection grew into a partnership rooted deeply in purpose. They fell in love, married young, and went on to raise five beautiful children together.
Along the way, they walked side by side through nursing school, strengthening the values that united them from the beginning: caring for people, easing suffering, and showing up where help
is needed most. For Roody, the desire to help runs deep. After losing close family members because medical care simply wasn’t available, he made a quiet promise: to become someone who could stand in the gap for those who had no support. Nursing allowed him to do that, one patient at a time. But both he and Rosie began to feel a deeper truth — that their impact was meant to stretch beyond hospital walls.
Together they stepped into entrepreneurship, growing their skills, resources, and reach. But even in business, they felt God shaping something bigger in their hearts. They couldn’t ignore the need they saw — children without proper nutrition, families without safe shelter, communities battling hardships Roody once lived through. That calling, combined with their shared purpose and their roots in Haiti, became the seed that grew into Vital Steps Haiti. Vital Steps Haiti was founded by Roody and Rosie as a bridge — connecting resources, compassion, opportunity, and hope to the communities that shaped their own story. It is an expression of their faith, their gratitude, and their lifelong commitment to helping people meet their most essential needs while building a path toward stability, education, and growth. Rooted in love and lived experience, Vital Steps Haiti is more than an organization.
It is a mission.
A promise.
A step toward a better future — one family, one child, one community at a time.
